PIP Assessment... WHY?

I had my PIP assessment on the 13th I think it went well👍. As I walked in I twitched quite badly, I still have a bruise nearly a week later😔. The person who saw me was a qualified nurse, even they didn’t quite know what to do with me. Which sounds bad but through the Health and Social Care system only specialist really deal with autism. Also, Autism diagnosis are getting more common, but it doesn’t mean people with autism see more of doctors, nurses or other people through the health care system. We see the same people that we keep seeing because that is the best way of stopping the meltdown, either that or they have to bring in someone who knows about autism or is trained in special needs.

Anyway, back to the PIP😶. It only took around 30 minutes. My assessment for autism took 3 days, yes days😱😳. So… How does 30 minutes fill up 3 day’s worth of assessments? I am not too sure either. So, people genuinely think that you can cover completely someone’s autism in 30 minutes, if so then I am worried that the way things are done are rigged. The test doesn’t cover emotions and why we do things. Just how much of things can we do. I can do most things. Just keep an eye on me, I don’t always know when things are hot. I don’t acknowledge cars on the road and I can follow signs a bit too literally, so if it says turn right/left I might on the spot and hit walls or go straight on to the road.  Other than these things I am fine and completely independent.
There are some things I would like to address about PIP, good and bad things.

Good👍:
  •  The assessment was done by a qualified professional.
  •  You can time your time to get through the questions, within reason though.
  • You can appeal the result you get.

Bad👎:

  •   It undermines all the months/years of tests and assessments people have to take before we come to this.

  • The questions don’t look at the whole picture, independence is more then can you do things safely, it is things from looking after themselves to looking after OTHERS- which they miss.
  • The person marking everything isn’t a healthcare professional they are an employee of DWP, Department of Work and Pensions💁, and they go off a point scoring sheet they get given.

Sorry this and the review has been slightly late, I have had some issues.
